Animals Associated with Love

Peacocks

Birds are very popular in Feng Shui decorating and are used to promote positive relationships. Under these guidelines, peacocks are used as symbols of loyalty, fidelity and love. If you are looking to enhance those qualities in your marriage, place peacock figures, imagery or feathers in the southwest corner of your home.

The southwestern corners of rooms are also considered “marriage sectors.” Living rooms and bedrooms especially. Peacocks in those areas are said to promote marital bliss and romance and will add more passion to your relationship.

African Peafowl

Both male and female Congo Peafowl resemble immature Asian Peafowl. The picture left is a male. He can fan his tail feathers similar to other peacocks. His red neck has no feathers.

Lacey feathers

We’re all pretty familiar with colorful peacocks, but how many of us have seen a white one? My friend saw one in Australia, but it’s not native. Gorgeous, though, eh? (This picture is courtesy of Nevit Dilmen.)

But is this peacock an albino or what? Not albino, just a color variation of the Indian Peafowl. These birds have blue eyes. White peahens are also pure white. White peachicks start out yellow with white wings.

Peacocks are the national bird of India. The Indian Blue Peacock is the one we see the most in this country.

The Green Peafowl is a separate species and naturally occurs from Myanmar to Java.
