A gray whale has two blowholes on top of their head.
Picture from Monterey Bay Aquarium
The two blowholes allows the gray whale to create a distinctive V-shaped blow at the surface in calm wind conditions. A gray whale spout or blow can reach up to 15
feet in the air and can sometimes resemble a heart shape from the front or behind.
